Italian airport Bergamo Orio Al Serio is one of 3 airports in the surroundings of Milan city. Two large low-cost airlines, Hungarian Wizzair and Irish RyanAir are having one of their biggest bases here. By a number of checked-in travellers is the airport 3rd busiest in Italy.
Its northern location is suitable not only to trips to Milan but also to Italian Alp mountains and lakes. Its location is just about 2km from the city of Bergamo and 50km north from Milan.
There is only 1 terminal for all the flights. Arrivals and Check-in counters with Immigration control are on the ground floor and its 1st floor is then only for travellers.
Milan Bergamo Airport offers numerous services to meet the needs of millions of passengers, who can enjoy shopping or relaxation in a tranquil setting while waiting for their flights. Many restaurants, fast-foods, sandwich shops or traditional Italian cafes are at hand to all travellers for 24/7.
There is also a VIP lounge available at the airport, located in the departures area beside the security checks (open from 04:30 to 20:00) and in the shopping area of the boarding gates (open from 05:00 to 22:00). The maximum allowed stay in the Lounges is 3 hours. The access can be bought online for 22.00 € or at the ticket office for 24.00 €.
The airport gets busy during high summer and winter season, however, it is possible to purchase fast-track tickets online to pass long queues at the immigration.
The only airline flying directly to Bergamo Airport from Manchester is currently RyanAir, from London then also EasyJet, British Airways and Alitalia.
The airport is open 24 hours.
Milan Bergamo Airport Transit
As this airport is mainly used for low-cost carriers, connecting flights usually do not apply here.
However, if you travel on a separate ticket basis (for instance London-Bergamo Bergamo-Athenes) and carrying only cabin baggage, you do not have to leave a transit zone and simply change your flight.
We recommend at least 2,5 hours to change your flight comfortably.
