Krabi International Airport is the primary airport for the Krabi province, located on southern Thailand’s west coast. It’s about 7 kilometres east of the city centre and is easily accessible via the main highway, Route 4. The airport serves as a convenient entry point to popular Thai beach resorts like Had Yao, Ao Nang, Rai Leh, and Koh Lanta.

The airport structure includes two terminals. Terminal 1 is for international flights, and Terminal 2 is for domestic flights. A connection on the third floor allows passengers to move between the International Terminal T1 (Gates 1 to 3) and the Domestic Terminal T2 (Gates 4 to 7). The international terminal, which was officially opened in 2006, is a new addition. This terminal and the runway facilities were developed between 2003 and 2005 with a budget of 743 million baht under the Department of Aviation. The four-story terminal can handle 600 arrivals and 600 departing passengers.

The airport doesn’t offer many shopping or dining opportunities. There are a few shops on the arrivals level, some souvenir and local products shops in the check-in area a snack bar. Due to the small airport’s size and Krabi’s high tourist popularity during high season, expect very long queues in the check-in area. Keep this in mind while planning your return journey and give yourself some extra time.

Krabi International Airport plays a crucial role in Thailand’s air travel industry as a regional commuter flight hub. In 2017, it handled over 4.3 million passengers. The terminal was designed to accommodate three million passengers, but this number has already been surpassed. Future expansion plans aim to increase its capacity to over 8 million.

Currently, nine airlines operate flights from Krabi. These include AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, flydubai, Scoot, Thai AirAsia, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air, Thai Smile, and Thai Vietjet Air. These airlines offer both domestic and international flights, connecting Krabi to various destinations within Thailand and abroad.

There are no direct flights from the UK, however, you will find many with 1 stopover in Bangkok.

The airport is open according to the actual flight schedule.
