Faro Airport is the gateway to the Algarve region in the south of Portugal. It is a relatively small airport containing a single terminal. It is used mainly by holidaymakers travelling to the south beaches of Portugal. Although the airport is small, it may get busier during the summer months.

Algarve Airport Food and shopping

At the airport, you will find few restaurants and snack bars, fast foods such as Burger King or Subway, local café brand and Costa coffee or Carlsberg pub. There is also a duty-free shop, selling regular products from snacks, alcoholic drinks, fashion accessories, tobacco products or perfumes. The duty-free shop located after security is open between 7:00 – 00:00 for non-Schengen flights and in the Arrivals zone and between 4:00 – 00:00 in the Departures zone for Schengen flights. There aren’t many luxury fashion shops at the Algarve airport, although you will find Victoria Secret or Swarowski shops here.

Algarve Airport Baggage storage and service

Baggage storage is available in the form of lockers outside the terminal, near the car park P5. It is open 24/7 with prices depending on the size of the luggage:

  • Small (351mm X 457mm X 555mm) – €1.50
  • Medium (351mm X 945mm X 555mm) – €2.50
  • Large (525mm X 945mm X 555mm) – €3.00

The minimum time to prepay the lockers is 4 hours. Upon opening the locker before the time is up, the machine doesn’t give a refund.

There is also a baggage porter services at Algarve airport to help you with your belongings available between 6:00 and 00:00. You can book the service via email info_faro@ana.pt . Additionally, there are baggage cars available outside the Airport, in Departures, at Baggage Claim and in the Car Parks.

Algarve Airport Lounges

There is only 1 lounge at the Algarve airport called CIP Lounge open between 06:00 – 23:30. It is located in both Schengen and non-Schengen areas. Every traveller has access here after paying €32.00 or €15.00 for the child. There, you can enjoy a selection of warm, cold and alcoholic beverages, sweet and salty snacks, a Wi-Fi connection separated from the rest of the airport, computers with an internet connection, TV and international newspapers.

Algarve Airport Car Rent

There is are plenty of options to rent a car at the Faro Airport with most of the major car rental companies, with most of them open between 6/7:00 – 00:00. For parking at the airport, you may conveniently book a parking space via the airport’s official booking website.

Airlines operating direct flights from the UK to Faro are RyanAirEasyjetBritish Airways and Jet2. All of them (except BA ) also fly direct from Manchester airport.

The Faro Algarve Airport is open 24/7.

Faro Algarve Airport Transit

The airport is used mainly as a final destination mostly by low-cost airlines where connecting flights are unlikely. If needed, you may need to exit the transit zone, pick up your luggage and check-in again before boarding your flight.
