TUI Airways, previously known as Thomson Airways, is a British airline that’s part of the TUI Airline group, under the ownership and operation of the TUI Group. The airline was established in 1962 and transitioned to its current name, TUI Airways, in October 2017. It provides both scheduled and charter flights from the UK and Ireland to various destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. Among UK airlines, it ranks fourth in terms of total passengers carried, following EasyJet, British Airways, and Jet2.com.
The airline has a fleet of 60 aircraft that operate from 24 different airports across the UK. The fleet comprises four different types of aircraft, including the Boeing Boeing 767-300, 737-800, Boeing 737 Max 8 and most importantly, the very popular Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Dreamliners are equipped with several advanced features, such as a light-and-oxygen system to help reduce jetlag and individual TV screens on every seat and are one of the quietest planes to fly with.
TUI Airways has several bases in the UK and around the world. In the UK, it operates from various airports, including London Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds Bradford, and Newcastle. The airline flies to more than 70 destinations worldwide, ranging from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. On a global scale, TUI boasts a fleet of over 150 aircraft, which can be expanded to more than 175 aircraft during peak season through rentals.
TUI also has subsidiary and sister companies carrying the company’s name and logo such as TUI fly Norway operating from plenty of Norwegian airports such as Oslo-Gardermoen, Bergen, Bodø, Evenes, Haugesund, Kristiansand, Molde, Stavanger, Torp-Sandefjord, Tromsø, Værnes-Trondheim and Ålesund Vigra or TUI fly Netherlands & Belgium which operate from airports in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Morocco, serving more than 100 destinations.
