Airport – Madrid city (train line C1)

Line C1 of Renfe Cercanías runs from terminal T4 of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport to the city centre.

The Aeropuerto T4 station has wider turnstiles than usual to allow for luggage, and ticket machines selling all Renfe products.

There are free buses that connect all the airport’s terminals.

Travel times to each station from Madrid airport:

  • Chamartín (connecting to long distance trains): 11 minutes
  • Nuevos Ministerios (financial district): 18 minutes
  • Atocha (connecting to long-distance trains, the Renfe AVE high-speed train, and the Prado, Reina Sofía and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza museums): 25 minutes
  • Méndez Álvaro (connecting to long-distance buses): 29 minutes
  • Príncipe Pío (connecting to long-distance buses and transport hub): 38 minutes

Airport – Madrid city (Metro)

Metro line 8 runs from Nuevos Ministerios station in central Madrid to all the airport terminals in approximately 12-15 minutes. The metro operates daily from 6:05 – 1:30.

Airport – Madrid city (city bus)

City bus route 101 runs from terminals T1, T2 and T3 of the airport to the Canillejas Transport Hub, where there are connections to several city and intercity bus routes and the Madrid Metro system.

  • From Canillejas: From Monday to Saturday, from 06:00 to 23:45. Sunday and public holidays, from 07:30 to 23:45
  • From Barajas: From Monday to Saturday, from 06:00 to 23:25. Sunday and public holidays, from 07:30 to 23:25
