Male Velana Airport located on Hulhule Island nearby the capital island Male is the gateway into Maldives for tourists.
Terminal offers a choice of international fast-food cousines such as Burger King, The Dairy queen, Costa Coffee and others with more restaurants in the new Waterfront Franchise building opposite the Domestic Terminal.
The airport is small and very well sign-posted.
Currently, there are no direct flights from the UK to Male, however, many major airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Aeroflot, Sri Lankan and others offer flights with only 1 layover in their hubs, with a journey time from 13 hours.
The airport is open between 6:00 AM and 1:00 AM

The international terminal is small and well signposted with quick check-in process times. There is a domestic terminal for seaplanes departing to all popular Maldives islands.
Each of the domestic carriers offers free shuttle buses to the terminal. The journey takes about 10 minutes, however, due to immigration checks, the total transit time takes at least 2 hours.

Boats operate 24/7, from 6:00 – 2:30 AM departing every 10 minutes, and every 30 minutes during the night.
The journey takes about 5 minutes.
